La Patrona Ranch

Lago Cholilo is a 100 meter deep spring fed lake at the base of the Andes and in the heart of Patagonia.

To keep the land from being damaged, only one per hundred acres is allowed.

The ranch house was made by hand with wood and material from the property. A refuge of quiet.

Cattle!
The center of a cattle ranch is cattle. Duh. So lets talk about what makes La Patrona Ranch's cattle unique and better than other cattle. These Herefords are classic beef cattle. Found all over the world where a heavier coat is an advantage (like, I don't know, the foot of the Andes mountains?) these cows have a distictive red coat and white face. Sometimes there will be one with a black coat and that is a sure sign that an Angus got in the family tree.
Fascinating you say? I agree but what makes these so special is their location.
Several hours to the north is a natural zoological barrier where no cows from the North are allowed to cross South. See in El Norto there are cow diseases and South of the barrier I mentioned? Not a single case. Ever. That means the existing cows are essentially one of the few groups of cattle completely unaffected by the spread of cattle diseases to the north.
Add to the perfectly clean environment, that these cows drink from one of only three spring fed lakes in the Andes. But wait! There is more! They also don't eat the processed feed and liquid molassis/ stuff that most cows eat (to get them fat really quick). These cows eat what they are designed by evolution (and hundreds of generations of animal husbandry) to eat.
Grass! And brush and things that actually grow out of the ground! Amazing.
All because they live in Patagonia.
Location, location, location.
